A’s 5, Tigers 1 – Rich Hill pitched the Oakland Athletics to victory over the Tigers on Tuesday night.
Hill pitched seven scoreless innings for the A’s, allowing four hits while striking out eight batters.
Oakland was led offensively by Josh Reddick with three hits while Marcus Semien added a two-run home run.
The Tigers scored their lone run in the ninth inning on an RBI double by Victor Martinez.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey took the loss, allowing five runs on nine hits in 6 2/3 innings.
The Tigers will look to take the lead in the series with a victory over the Athletics on Wednesday night.
