Tigers 9, Twins 2 – The Tigers opened their three-game series against the Minnesota Twins with a victory on Friday night.
Michael Fulmer pitched a win in his first career start for the Tigers, allowing two runs on seven hits while striking out four batters in five innings.
Detroit jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning and finished strong with three runs in the eighth and two in the ninth.
The Tigers were led by Nick Castellanos with a home run and three RBIs while Victor Martinez and Miguel Cabrera each hit solo home runs.
The Twins were led by Miguel Sano with a double and an RBI while Eduardo Escobar chipped in with a run batted in.
Detroit will look to pick up its fourth straight win with a victory over the Twins on Saturday afternoon.
