The Lumberjacks scored the final four goals of the game on Saturday to earn a 4-1 victory over the host Madison Capitols at Alliant Energy Center.

Muskegon is now 27-24-7 on the season, good for 61 points and sixth place in the USHL’s Eastern Conference, with two games remaining.

The victory assured the Jacks of a winning record for the fourth season in a row.

The Lumberjacks will close their season next weekend in Chicago on Friday and Des Moines on Saturday.

The Capitols opened the scoring in Saturday’s game with a goal by Alexandre Payusov 4:14 into the first period.

Muskegon responded with second period goals from Derek Daschke and Rem Pitlick at 7:05 and 16:36, respectively.

The Lumberjacks took a 3-1 lead on an unassisted goal from Jacob Coleman 7:18 into the third period.

Muskegon’s Tyler Irvine added an empty net goal with 1:18 left in the game.

Lumberjacks goaltender Devin Cooley picked up the win, stopping 30 of 31 shots.
