The Spring Lake softball team picked up a Lakes 8 Conference doubleheader sweep, 8-1 and 9-3, over Fruitport on Friday.LSJ Logo incert

The Lakers improve to 14-0 on the season and 6-0 in league play while Fruitport dropped to 6-2 in Lakes 8 action.

In Game 1 the Lakers were paced by Linsey Paggeot with four hits, three RBIs and three runs while Madelyn Nelson added three hits and scored two runs. Katie Mumby chipped in with three hits and three RBIs.

Spring Lake’s sophomore Lauren Somers pitched the win, allowing three hits and striking out three batters.

The Trojans scored their lone run on a solo home run by Brooklyn Samlow.

In Game 2 Paggeot paced Spring Lake with two doubles and two runs scored while Lauren Hellman had two hits, two RBIs and two runs. Ann Marie Galloway chipped in with a three-run home run.

Lakers starting pitcher Leah Vaughan picked up the victory, striking out five batters.

Fruitport was led by Aurora Wilks with a solo home run while Rachel Paulsen played strong defensively in center field.
