But the Captains struck for heavy damage in the sixth inning with four runs on five straight hits.

Shane Zeile and Jose Azocar tried to get the Whitecaps going in the seventh with back-to-back singles. Steven Fuentes hit into double play to score Zeile but the momentum was lost.

West Michigan starting pitcher Sandy Baez (0-4) pitched into the sixth inning with five scoreless frames, but would not record another out in the contest. Baez gave up all four runs in five innings to take his fourth loss.

Allen led the Whitecaps offense by going 2-for-2 with a double, RBI and two walks.

The win improves Lake County’s league-best record to 20-12 this season.
