Tigers 6, Twins 5 – The Tigers completed the three-game sweep against the Minnesota Twins with a come from behind victory on Sunday afternoon.

LSJ Logo incertThe Twins jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first inning, then led 5-2 after the fifth before Detroit tied the game 5-5 in the top of the sixth.

Nick Castellanos tied the game with a three-run homer in the sixth, the Tigers gained their first lead on an RBI double by Jarrod Saltalamacchia in the eighth.

Detroit closed the game throwing Miguel Sano out at third base trying to stretch a double into a triple.

The Tigers’ closer Francisco Rodriguez saved his seventh game, allowing one hit in the ninth inning.

Detroit’s starting pitcher Mike Pelfrey continued his struggles, allowing five runs on eight hits in four innings.

Castellanos paced the Tigers with a home run and four RBIs while Victor Martinez added two singles, a double and two runs scored.

The Tigers are now 14-10 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.

Detroit will continue its road trip on Tuesday night against the Cleveland Indians.
