Angels 5, Tigers 1– A five-run eighth inning paced the Los Angeles Angels past the Tigers on Monday night.
The Tigers are currently on a three-game losing streak and are two games below the .500 mark.
The Angels were led by C.J. Cron with two hits and one RBI while Cliff Pennington chipped in with a hit, RBI and a run scored.
Los Angeles’ starting pitcher Jhoulys Chacin tossed a complete game, allowing one run on four hits while striking out 10 batters.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Justin Verlander took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out seven batters in 7 1/3 innings.
The Tigers lone run was knocked in on sacrifice fly by Victor Martinez while J.D Martinez doubled and scored a run.
The Tigers are now 24-26 on the season, good for fourth place in the American League Central Division behind the Kansas City Royals.
Detroit will look to snap its losing streak with a win on Tuesday night.
