Indians 4, Tigers 0 – The Cleveland Indians shut down the Tigers on Wednesday night.
The Indians remain unbeaten against Detroit this season in their first five games of the season series.
Cleveland scored its four runs in the fourth inning on an RBI single by Michael Brantley, RBI doubles by Yan Gomes and Mike Napoli and a wild pitch that scored Brantley.
Indians’ starting pitcher Corey Kluber threw nine scoreless innings allowing five hits while striking out seven batters.
The Tigers were held to five hits led by Nick Castellanos with two while Justin Upton doubled.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Anibal Sanchez took the loss, allowing four runs on four hits while striking out seven batters in seven innings.
The Tigers are now 14-12 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.
Detroit will look to avoid another sweep against the Indians with a win on Thursday night.
