Rangers 8, Tigers 3 – The Texas Rangers completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.

LSJ Logo incertThe Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Miguel Cabrera and a run scoring walk from Justin Upton.

Texas responded during the eighth inning, scoring seven runs to take a five-run lead.

The Rangers were led by former Tiger Bobby Wilson with a grand-slam home run while Delino DeShields added a solo homer.

Detroit’s starting pitcher Justin Verlander took a no-decision despite having a strong outing. He tossed seven scoreless innings allowing three hits while striking out nine batters.Eye on the D

The Tigers’ bullpen struggled, allowing eight runs on nine hits in two innings.

Detroit is now 14-16 on the season, good for fourth place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.

The Tigers will look to snap their six-game losing streak on Monday night against the Washington Nationals on the road.
