Rangers 8, Tigers 3 – The Texas Rangers completed a three-game sweep of the Tigers on Sunday afternoon.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the third inning on an RBI double by Miguel Cabrera and a run scoring walk from Justin Upton.
Texas responded during the eighth inning, scoring seven runs to take a five-run lead.
The Rangers were led by former Tiger Bobby Wilson with a grand-slam home run while Delino DeShields added a solo homer.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Justin Verlander took a no-decision despite having a strong outing. He tossed seven scoreless innings allowing three hits while striking out nine batters.
The Tigers’ bullpen struggled, allowing eight runs on nine hits in two innings.
Detroit is now 14-16 on the season, good for fourth place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.
The Tigers will look to snap their six-game losing streak on Monday night against the Washington Nationals on the road.
