Tigers 9, Rays 4– The Tigers won their three-games series over the Tampa Bay Rays on Sunday afternoon despite it coming at a price.
Detroit lost starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann in the sixth with a groin injury while Miguel Cabrera left in the eighth with a knee bruise.
Zimmerman picked up his seventh win of the season for the Tigers, allowing two runs on five hits in 5 2/3 innings.
Cabrera paced Detroit with three hits, including a home run, and two RBIs.
The Tigers jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first, the Rays tied the game 2-2 in the second before Detroit scored one in the second frame and three in the third to take a 6-2 lead.
Detroit’s Victor Martinez added a late two-run homer to seal the win while Cameron Maybin remained hot with three RBIs.
The Rays were led by Logan Morrison and Tim Beckham with two-run homers each while Brandon Guyer chipped in with a double.
The Tigers are now 21-22 on the season, good for fourth place in the American League Central Division behind the Chicago White Sox.
Detroit will look to continue its winning streak on Monday night in a series opener against the Philadelphia Phillies.
