The Kent City baseball team earned its first conference championship in 36 years in a split doubleheader against Morley Stanwood on Tuesday.
The Eagles clinched the conference title with a 9-4 victory in the opener, then fell 9-2 in the nightcap.
Kent City, which is now 16-5 on the season and 16-1 in league play, was led in Game 1 by Skylour Campbell with three hits, including a double. Cody Bowers added two hits and two RBIs.
Hunter Babbitt chipped in with two RBIs for Kent City while Quinn Koomen and Luke Scheuneman had an RBI apiece.
Koomen tossed a complete win for the Eagles, striking out eight hitters. .
In Game 2, Colton Atwood led Kent City with two hits while Jace Dailey and Scheuneman added a double.
