Mona Shores splits twin bill in baseball against Zeeland East

The Mona Shores baseball team split a doubleheader against Zeeland East in O-K Black action on Tuesday.

LSJ Logo incertThe Sailors dropped the opening game 8-4, then responded with a 4-2 victory in the nightcap.

Mona Shores is now 9-3 in league play. The Sailors started the week one game behind first-place Zeeland East.

In Game 1, Mona Shores was paced by Hunter Broersma with two doubles and two RBIs.

In Game 2, the Sailors were led by Broersma with three hits and a run scored while Austin Flowers chipped in with three hits, an RBI and two runs scored.

Mona Shores’ Connor Belanger picked up the victory for the Sailors while Tyler Trovinger earned a five-out save.
