Austin Byers scored the winning run on a sacrifice fly by Blake Masterman in the ninth inning Wednesday, giving the Oakridge baseball team an exciting 3-2 victory over Ravenna in the first game of a West Michigan Conference doubleheader.LSJ Logo incert

The Eagles scored two runs in the first inning before breaking the tie in the ninth. Ravenna scored twice in the fifth inning.

Pitcher Koleman Wall got the win and Logan Layman collected the save. Brian Thompson took the hard-luck loss for Ravenna on the mound.

Nate Wahr had two hits and an RBI for the Eagles. Nick Castenholtz had two hits and an RBI for the Bulldogs.

Oakridge, now 20-5 overall on the season and 12-2 in conference play, completed the sweep with a 7-0 victory in Game 2.

Wahr hurled a one-hitter for the Eagles, striking out 10 and walking four. He also went 3-for-4 at the plate and drove in two runs. Luke Layman and Tyler Thomas had two hits apiece and Kolin Chahorski scored two runs. Tierstyn McBride had the lone hit for the Bulldogs.
