The Spring Lake girls soccer team blanked Fruitport 4-0 in a Lakes 8 soccer game on Monday.LSJ Logo incert

The Lakers jumped out to a 2-0 lead 10 minutes into the contest on goals by Emily Batts and Laney Peasely.

Spring Lake led 2-0 at halftime.

The Lakers added to their lead on a corner kick by Saebryn Peel to give them a 3-0 advantage.

Batts closed out the scoring for the Lakers with her second goal of the night.

“Hopefully we have more games like that,” said Spring Lake Coach Jeremy Thelen whose team is currently in first place in the Lakes 8 Conference. “We played very well tonight.”

The Trojans dropped their record to 4-5 on the season and 3-1 in league play.

“They (Spring Lake) controlled the game from beginning to the end,” said Fruitport Coach Dan Hazekamp. “They were the better team tonight, they had more intensity.”
