Royals 2, Tigers 1 (13 inn) – Cheslor Cuthbert’s RBI single in the 13th inning paced the Kansas City Royals over the Tigers on Sunday night.

LSJ Logo incertThe Tigers jumped out to a 1-0 lead on a home run by Steven Moya, his first of his career.

Kansas City tied the game in the fifth inning on an RBI groundout by Brett Eibner before the Royals won the game in extra innings.

Salvador Perez paced the Royals with two hits while Alcides Escobar and Paulo Orlando each doubled.

Moya led Detroit with three hits while Justin Upton and Cameron Maybin each chipped in with a hit.Eye on the D

Tigers’ starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann took a no-decision, allowing one run on four hits while striking out five batters in eight innings.

The Tigers are now 34-35 on the season, good for third place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.

Detroit will return home for nine games in the next ten days starting Monday night against the Seattle Mariners.
