Tigers 5, Mariners 4 (10 inn) – The Tigers clipped the Seattle Mariners in extra innings on Thursday to complete their first four-game sweep at home since September of 2012.
Detroit, which now is on a four-game winning streak, scored its winning-run on a wild pitch thrown by Seattle’s relief pitcher Steve Cishek.
The Tigers, who led 2-0 and 4-1 before allowing three unanswered runs to be forced to extra innings, were led by James McCann with a home run and two RBIs.
Justin Upton and Steven Moya each chipped in with RBI doubles.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Daniel Norris tossed a no-decision, allowing three runs on six hits while striking out five batters in five innings.
Kyle Ryan picked up his second victory in two days for the Tigers, throwing a scoreless 10th frame.
The Mariners were paced in a losing effort by Nelson Cruz with two homers, while Chris Iannetta and Leonys Martin each added a solo homer.
The Tigers are now 38-35 on the season, good for third place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians.
Detroit will open a three-game weekend series starting Friday night against the Indians.
