The West Michigan Ironmen had a great season – but it ended on an sour note.
The Ironmen were pounded by the Columbus Lions 74-32 on Saturday night in the American Indoor Football championship game in Columbus Georgia. The Ironmen scored first, early in the game, but it was all Lions
after that.
“It was a tough loss, but things happen,” said Ironmen Coach Ty Lynk. “We did not execute the game plan.”
The game ended a few minutes before the clock expired, due to an altercation that apparently involved some players and fans.
“The refs have to keep the game under control,” said Lynk. “Their (Columbus) fans started attacking our players starting at the end of the first half. I asked the officials at halftime to keep an eye out.
“It was 100 percent my decision to call the game for the safety of my players.”
