The 2016 Marsh Field High School All-Star Classic took place Wednesday night, with about 300 fans turning out to watch some of the area’s best high school baseball players.
Team South captured a 6-3 win over the North, scoring four runs in the sixth inning to take control of the contest.
Western Michigan Christian’s Coleman Brott hit a go-ahead RBI single to put the South team up for good, 4-3.
That came after Montague’s Jacob Buchberger put the North team up 3-2 in the top of the sixth with a two-run home run over the left field fence.
Getting the win was Muskegon Catholic pitcher Norberto Vasquez. Mona Shores’ Tyler Trovinger posted the save in the seventh.
Nate Wahr of Oakridge pitch two solid innings for the winning South team with four strikeouts.
