Twins 6, Tigers 2 – The Minnesota Twins won their first game against the Tigers this season on Tuesday night.

LSJ Logo incertThe Twins, who were 0-7 against Detroit heading into tonight’s game, jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a run in the third inning and five in the seventh.

The Tigers responded with two runs in the ninth but failed to complete the comeback.

Victor Martinez knocked in a run with a single while Nick Castellanos hit a sacrifice fly to score a run for Detroit, which totaled six hits on the night.

The Twins were paced by Eduardo Nunez with three RBIs while Brian Dozier homered and knocked in two runs.

The Tigers now 49-45 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the first-place Cleveland Indians. They are three games behind the Toronto Blue Jays for the final playoff spot.

Detroit will look to win the series against the Twins with a victory on Wednesday afternoon.
