Angels 5, Tigers 0 – The Los Angeles Angels held the Tigers scoreless on four hits on Sunday afternoon to take the three-game series.

LSJ Logo incertThe Angels opened the scoring in the fifth inning on a two-run homer by former Tiger Jefry Marte to take a 2-0 lead.

Marte knocked in three of the five Los Angeles runs.

The Angels closed the scoring adding three runs in the sixth inning.

The Tigers were led in a losing effort by Cameron Maybin and Miguel Cabrera with a double each.

The Tigers are now 69-61 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Cleveland Indians. They are two games back of the Baltimore Orioles for the final playoff spot.

Detroit will open a three-game series against the Chicago White Sox at home starting on Monday night.
