Tigers 8, Twins 3 – The Tigers opened their road trip with a win over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday night.

LSJ Logo incertDetroit was led by Miguel Cabrera and Victor Martinez with three hits apiece.

The Tigers opened the scoring in the second inning before the Twins scored two runs in third to take a 2-1 advantage.

Both teams exchanged runs in the fifth inning before Detroit scored the final six runs in the contest, scoring three in both the sixth and seventh inning.

Victor Martinez and Erick Aybar each homered while Cabrera, Justin Upton and James McCann added a double each.

The Twins were led in a losing effort by Brian Dozier with a home run while Jorge Polanco chipped in with a triple.

The Tigers are now 66-59 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Cleveland Indians. They are three games back of the Baltimore Orioles for the final playoff spot.

Detroit will look to win its third straight game with a win over the Twins on Wednesday night.
