The Grant football team got off to a strong start on the season by beating Shelby 49-6 in a non-league game on Friday night.
Grant scored 28 points in the first quarter to set the tone and never looked back.
Grant quarterback Trenton Throop threw two touchdown passes, both to Casey Greers, and also ran in a 36-yard score. Jared Evans scored two touchdowns on the ground for the Tigers.
The lone Shelby score on the night came on a one-yard carry by Latrell Sobers in the fourth quarter.
