The Grant volleyball team opened its season strong, winning a tournament in Grand Rapids at the MVP Fieldhouse.
The Tigers, who finished with a 6-0-1 record in the tournament, defeated Zeeland West in the finals with set scores of 25-22 and 25-15.
Grant defeated West Catholic in the semifinals and Calvin Christian in the quarterfinals after qualifying for the tournament by going 3-0-1 in the pool play matches.
Sierra Schuitema led the Tigers with eight aces, 114 assists and 33 kills while Laura Bouwkamp added 41 kills.
Taylor Wegener and Ashley Herin chipped in with 73 and 65 digs, respectively, while Olivia Keelean had three and a half blocks.
