On Monday the Whitecaps lost 2-1, despite a great performance from starting pitcher Spenser Watkins, who tossed his first complete game while allowing a pair of unearned runs and striking out eight hitters.

On Tuesday the Whitecaps dropped another close one, 5-4. Starting pitcher Eudis Idrogo tossed seven innings while striking out nine hitters. Cam Gibson had a solo home run for West Michigan.

The Whitecaps are now 61-54 overall and 22-26 in the second half standings. West Michigan is in fourth place in the Midwest League Eastern Division, 10 games behind South Bend.

While the second half of the season is not going well for the Whitecaps, they are guaranteed a postseason playoff spot and a first-round series against South Bend, due to their strong performance in the first half.
