White Sox 2, Tigers 0 – The Chicago White Sox blanked the Tigers on Tuesday night to even the series.
The White Sox opened the scoring in the second inning on a solo homer by Jose Abreu, then added to their lead with an RBI single from Omar Narvaez in the fifth.
The Tigers were led in a losing effort by J.D Martinez with two singles.
Detroit’s starting pitcher Matt Boyd took the loss, allowing two runs on eight hits while striking out six batters in seven innings.
The Tigers are now 75-63 on the season, good for second place in the American League Central Division behind the Cleveland Indians. They are one game behind the Baltimore Orioles for the final playoff spot.
Detroit will look to win the series with a victory on Wednesday afternoon in its final game against the White Sox of the season.
