Hesperia’s Gerrit Yates scored the Panthers’ lone TD on a pass reception from quarterback Brendan MacAree in the third quarter to cut Morley-Stanwood’s lead to 7-6.

The Mohawks responded by scoring the game’s final 12 points, scoring six points in both the third and fourth quarters.

“We have to give Morley credit.  They came to play today.  We don’t want to take anything away from them, but we were a little flat tonight,” said Hesperia coach Doug Bolles. “We had some key performances from (Kanin) Witte, and also from (Gage) Balkema, who had a key interception and two blocked extra points today.”

The Panthers drop their record to 1-2 on the season and are 0-1 in league play. They will host Holton next week.
