The Muskegon Community College volleyball team posted a 2-2 record over the weekend at the challenging Parkland College Invitational in Champaign, Illinois.
On Friday the Jayhawks lost to Parkland Community College, the second-ranked Division 2 team in the nation, 3-0. They bounced back later in the day with a 3-1 win over Rock Valley Community College. Set scores were 25-21, 25-17, 22-25 and 25-20.
MCC opened play on Saturday with a hard-fought 3-2 win over Kirkwood Community College. The set scores were 25-21,12-25,11-25, 25-21 and 15-12. The Jayhawks finished the tournament with a 3-0 loss to Lincoln Land Community College.
The Jayhawks are now 13-8 on the season. They have recorded victories over two of the seven highest ranked teams in the nation.
Tournament leaders for the Jayhawks were Rachel Brown with 55 kills and nine blocks, Lindsey Jacobs with 138 assists, Samantha Hockstra with five service aces and Marissa Hassevoort with 62 digs.
MCC will host Ancilla College on Tuesday and Lake Michigan College on Thursday in a pair of conference matches.
