The Ravenna Bulldogs overcame a first quarter deficit and downed North Muskegon 28-20 in a West Michigan Conference football shootout on Friday night.
The Norse took a 6-0 lead in the first quarter on a 59-yard touchdown run by Vernonell Smith.
Ravenna answered with a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, including an 11-yad run by David Thompson, to take a 14-6 halftime lead.
Brandon Millis scored from seven yards out in the third quarter to give the Bulldogs a 21-6 edge. North Muskegon answered with a nine-yard touchdown run by Smith to narrow the score to 21-12.
Thompson threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to Matt Russell in the fourth quarter, putting Ravenna up 27-12.
The Norse responded with 16-yard TD pass from Jesse Cook to TJ McKenzie, but could get no closer.
Millis led Ravenna with 100 yards rushing on 26 carries. Thompson added 84 yards on 14 carries and one rushing touchdown, as well as 71 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Tierstyn McBride had seven tackles for the Bulldogs while Shane Goebel and Tanner McFarren added six apiece.
Smith led North Muskegon with 130 yards on 17 carries with two touchdowns. Cam Waller had 14 tackles for the Norse while Chandler Edwards added 11.
Ravenna improved to 3-1, including 2-1 in the conference. North Muskegon fell to 0-4 and 0-3.
