Orchard View’s soccer team downed Montague 8-0 in the first round of Division 3 district tournament play on Monday.
The Cardinals grabbed a 6-0 lead in the first half, and scored twice more in the first five minutes of the second half to end the game by the mercy rule.
Evan McMiller and Jared Fleener each netted two goals for the Cardinals. Jaxson Powels, Zack Burnham, Adam Skidmore and Kalin Wade added one goal apiece.
Powles, Fleener, Rodger McKenzie, Jeremy Kennedy and Skidmore all had assists.
The Cardinals outshot the Wildcats 13-1.
Orchard View will take on the district host, Hart, in Wednesday’s semifinals.
