Lions 31, Rams 28 – Lions’ kicker Matt Prater nailed his second straight game-winning field goal with 1:33 left in regulation from 33-yards out to propel Detroit to a win over the Los Angeles Rams on Sunday afternoon.
The Lions, who are now 3-3 on the season, are now on a two-game winning streak.
Detroit opened the scoring with 10:47 left in the first quarter on a seven-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Matthew Stafford to Marvin Jones Jr.
The Rams quickly responded with a score of their own on a 20-yard pass from quarterback Case Keenum to Kenny Britt with 5:24 left in the first.
Los Angeles took its first lead of the contest with 11:03 left in the second quarter on a one-yard scamper by Keenum to give the Rams a 14-7 advantage.
The Lions tied the game 14-14 with a two-yard completion from Stafford to Andre Roberts with 3:12 left in the half.
Detroit stuffed the Rams on fourth and goal from the one-yard line during the final play of the half keeping the score tied at 14-14 heading into the locker rooms.
The Lions regained their lead with 9:52 left in the third quarter on a four-yard pass from Stafford to Anquan Boldin to give Detroit a 21-14 lead.
Los Angeles tied the game 21-21 on a 15-yard catch by tight end Lance Kendricks from Keenum with 6:39 left in the third.
The Rams took a 28-21 advantage with 14:16 left in the fourth on a nine-yard connection between Keenum and Britt.
Detroit tied the game 28-28 on a 23-yard catch by Golden Tate from Stafford with 6:09 left in the fourth.
The Lions added the game-winning field by Prater with 1:33 left in regulation while Rafael Bush sealed the victory for Detroit with an interception with less than a minute left in the game.
The Lions were led by Stafford with 270 passing yards and four touchdowns while Tate caught eight passes for 165 yards and a score. Bolden chipped in with 60 yards receiving and one touchdown for Detroit.
Detroit will look to continue its winning streak next week against the Washington Redskins.
