The Holton football team held off White Cloud 14-12 on Friday night in a CSAA Silver Division football contest.
The Red Devils, who led 8-0 at halftime and 8-6 after three quarters, added to
their lead in the fourth on a one-yard touchdown run by quarterback Blake Fialek.
The score was set up when Holton’s Zach Fooks recovered a fumble and ran it to the goal line.
White Cloud responded with a touchdown to make the score 14-12 with 1:38 left, but failed to convert the two-point conversion attempt.
The Red Devils were led by Fialek with 64 rushing yards on 16 carries and one touchdown while Fooks chipped in with 40 yards on the ground. Mitchell Erickson also scored a touchdown.
Cameron Whitener led Holton’s defense with 12 tackles while Mason Butchart added 10, including a sack. Fialek and Nick Swanson each had interceptions for the Red Devils.
Holton is now 2-4 on the season and 1-3 in league play.
