The Muskegon Lumberjacks continued their road success on Friday night with an easy win against the Bloomington Thunder.
The Jacks blanked the Thunder 5-0 at the U.S Cellular Arena in Bloomington, Illinois.
Muskegon is now 4-1 away from L.C. Walker Arena and 5-3 overall, good for 10 points and a second-place tie in the USHL’s Eastern Conference standings.
Keith Petruzzelli stopped all 32 Bloomington shots in net for the Lumberjacks. It was the first shutout victory in his USHL career.
The Lumberjacks were led offensively by Collin Adams with a goal and an assist.
Casey Gilling, Will Smith, Andrei Svechnikov and Keenan Suthers each added goals for Muskegon, while Matt Steeves, Keeghan Howdeshell and Jachym Kondelik each had one assist.
The Lumberjacks jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period on goals from Adams (1:14), Gilling (4:21) and Smith (7:56).
The Jacks outshot Bloomington by an 18-10 margin in the first period.
Muskegon increased its lead to 4-0 with an unassisted goal from Svechnikov 5:08 into the second period.
Suthers closed out the scoring for the Lumberjacks with a goal 7:54 into the third period.
The Lumberjacks and Thunder each had 32 shots on goal on the night.
Muskegon will end its road trip on Saturday night with a game against the Waterloo Black Hawks. Faceoff will be at 8:05 p.m. EST.
