Panthers 2 Red Wings 1 (OT) – Aleksander Barkov’s overtime goal with 3:56 remaining led the Florida Panthers to a victory over the Red Wings on Thursday night.
The Red Wings, who are now 11-10-3 on the season, have gain a point in the standings in the last five contests and are 12th place in the Eastern Conference.
Henrik Zetterberg opened the scoring for Detroit 1:23 into the game to give the Red Wings a 1-0 lead.
The Panthers tied the game 1-1 on a goal from Jason Demers at the 18:15 mark of the first period.
Both teams failed to put the puck in the net during the second and third periods.
Detroit’s goaltender Petr Mrazek took the loss in the overtime, stopping 28 of 30 shots.
The Red Wings will open a three-game road trip starting on Saturday night against the defending Stanley Cup champion Pittsburgh Penguins.
