Jenny Beckman’s 27-point six rebound performance paced the Shelby girls basketball team to a close 49-46 victory over Spring Lake on Tuesday night in a non-league contest.
The game was tied 14-14 after the first quarter, the Tigers led 25-22 at halftime and had a slim 36-35 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.
Shelby’s Mckenna Peters added 12 points for the Tigers.
The Lakers were led by Reiko Johnson, who set the Spring Lake all-time scoring record, had 18 points.
Johnson’s milestone was a 35-year old record that was once held by Julie Dennis with 1,148 points.
