The Mona Shores girls basketball squad cruised past the 12th ranked Wayne Memorial 61-50 on Saturday in the Best of Michigan Holiday Tournament.

The Sailors jumped out to a 23-13 lead after the first quarter, led 35-20 at halftime and had a 49-30 advantage heading into the fourth quarter.

Wayne Memorial closed the game strong, going on a 21-12 fourth quarter run but fell short of a comeback win.

Mona Shores, which improved its record to 4-1 on the season, were paced by Alzya Winston with 21 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Jordan Walker added 18 points, a game-high 13 rebounds, six assists, three blocks and three steals for the Sailors and Ryleigh Wehler chipped in with 14 points.

The Sailors will host West Ottawa on Tuesday night.
