The Muskegon Community College wrestling team traveled to River Grove, Ill. on Saturday to compete in the Art Kraft Open.

The Jayhawks were led by freshman Quintin Wilber (197 pounds), who advanced to the finals of his weight class before losing to Tim Young of Ellsworth College.

MCC freshman Robert Eineder (285 pounts) finished fourth in his weight class.

The Jayhawks were short-handed at the tournament, with many wrestlers out of the lineup with injuries.

“Christmas Break is really needed for us right now,” said Jayhawks Coach James Tietema. “We have a lot of guys that need some time off to heal their injuries, so we can be ready to go for the National Duals.”

MCC will complete in the National Duals on Jan. 4-5 in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
