Zac Holman totaled 32 points, six rebounds and seven steals to lead the Grand Haven boys basketball team to a 69-56 victory over Mona Shores in its season opener on Friday night.

The Bucs jumped out to a 27-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Holman scored 16 of his points in the quarter.

The Sailors cut their deficit to 10 points at halftime, but were unable to close the gap in the second half.

Bryce Taylor stuffed the stat sheet for Grand Haven with three points, five assists, four steals and five rebounds.

James Gilbert (19), KP Peques (14) and Jarvis Walker (12) all scored in double figures for the Sailors, who fell to 0-2 on the season.
