The Fremont boys basketball team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 60-52 non-league victory over Orchard View on Tuesday.

The Packers led 19-9 after one quarter, but Orchard View fought back and trailed by only two points, 27-25, at halftime.

Fremont led 47-37 at the third buzzer, but the Cardinals fought back again, trimming their deficit to four, before the Packers pulled away down the stretch.

Ben Schmidt scored 12 points to lead Fremont while Sam Kaastra had 11 points and 13 rebounds. Edmari Mitchell led Orchard View with 17 points.

GRAND HAVEN 61, REETHS-PUFFER 45 – Ross Koella was unstoppable for the Buccaneers (3-1) with 26 points on 12 field goals. Emcee Williams had 16 points for the Rockets (1-4).

KENT CITY 65, TRI-COUNTY 38 – Kent City picked up its fourth straight win in a non-league game. The Eagles (4-1 overall) dominated the second quarter 22-9 to take control. Gavin Mead scored 24 points to lead Kent City, while Fraser Wilson had 13 and Jase Dailey added 11.

TRI UNITY CHRISTIAN 43, GRANT 39 – Grand led 35-30 after three quarters but couldn’t hang on in a non-league contest. Carter Chase paced Grant (2-3, 1-1) with nine points on the night.
