Sam Johnson had a 15 point, 14 rebound double-double to lead the Spring Lake boys basketball team to a 51-43 victory over Sparta on Friday night in O-K Blue Conference action.

The Lakers, who improved to 6-2 overall and 2-1 in the conference, led 18-16 at halftime and expanded their advantage down the stretch.

Jack Van Wingen added 10 points for Spring Lake.


LUDINGTON 66, MANISTEE 22 – The Orioles broke open the game with a 21-2 advantage in the third quarter. Calvin Hackert led Ludington with 28 points while Sam LaDuke added 10. Noah Laman pulled down eight rebounds for the winners.


GRAND RAPIDS UNION 67, REETHS-PUFFER 23 – The Rockets fell behind early and never could rally in the O-K Black contest. Union led 18-5 after one quarter and 30-6 at halftime. Carter Fulton led Reeths-Puffer (1-7, 0-2) with seven points.


AVIATION ACADEMY 38, FRUITPORT CALVARY 34 – Jacob McFarren scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Fruitport Calvary while Alec Cammenga added 11 points and 17 rebounds.
