Claudia Rumsey’s game-winning layup basket with 3.5 seconds left in regulation propelled the Montague girls basketball squad over Hart 44-43 on Thursday night in a West Michigan Conference game.

Rumsey scored 11 points and grabbed eight rebounds for the Wildcats, who improved to a 5-4 record overall on the season.

Montague was led offensively by Sydney Stine with 16 points.

The Wildcats trailed 12-10 after the first quarter, 26-22 at halftime and 37-36 heading to the fourth quarter.

Montague outscored the Pirates by a slim margin of 8-6 during the fourth quarter to seal the victory.

The Pirates (3-8, 0-6) were led by Yasmine Colon with 15 points and six rebounds while Nicole Rockwell added 11 points and grabbed six boards.
