A 30-point fourth quarter helped the Montague boys basketball team come from behind and defeat Oakridge 70-59 on Tuesday night in West Michigan Conference play.

Facing a 44-40 deficit at the beginning of the fourth quarter, the Wildcats outscored the Eagles 30-15 in the final eight minutes to walk out with a road victory.

Montague improved to 2-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play. Oakridge dropped to 1-5 and 1-1.

“I’m happy with how the team hung in this game mentally and was able to finish it in the fourth quarter,” said Montague coach David Osborne. “Oakridge played extremely well and very hard the whole game.

“This is a good conference win for us and a great way to start the new year after a long Christmas break.”

Josh Weesies led the Wildcats with 19 points while Merritt Hamann added 18 points and seven assists.

Oakridge was led on the night by Alex Shoop with 15 points and Morgan Meinders had 13.

NORTH MUSKEGON 52, SHELBY 38 – Riley Fairfield led the Norsemen with 16 points while Vernonell Smith added 13 points and eight rebounds. Spencer Brown led the Tigers with 12 points.

MASON COUNTY CENTRAL 40, HART 28 – Ryan Mount had 11 points and six rebounds to lead Mason County Central (2-2, 2-1), while teammate Tyler Bromely added 10 points. Hart (1-4, 0-2) was paced by Garrett Eisenlohr with 10 points and 13 rebounds.

WHITEHALL 67, RAVENNA 49 – Brandon Rake paced Whitehall (4-1, 3-0) with 19 points and eight rebounds while teammate Lucas Schumm added 18 points, seven steals and seven assists. Ravenna (3-2, 1-2) was led by Anthony Arbogast with 15 points while Trevor Hazen added 11 points and six rebounds.
