Jenny Beckman’s 21-point performance propelled the Shelby girls basketball team over Montague 49-45 in a West Michigan Conference game on Thursday night.

Beckman added seven rebounds while Jaelyn Love led the Tigers with 10 rebounds. Brooke James chipped in with nine points for Shelby.

The Tigers trailed 9-6 after the first quarter and 20-12 at halftime before outscoring Montague by an 18-7 margin during the third quarter to take a 30-27 advantage.

The Wildcats were led by Sydney Stine with 16 points while Claudia Rumsey added 13 points and five rebounds.
