The Spring Lake boys basketball team overcame a late deficit to force overtime, then outlasted Sparta 66-64 in an O-K Blue Conference thriller on Friday.

The game was tied 24-24 at halftime. The Lakers trailed by seven points with three minutes left before rallying to tie the game at 54-54 and force the extra session.

The Lakers jumped out to a nine-point lead in overtime, then held off a furious Spartan comeback to claim the victory.

Spring Lake gained a lot of ground from the free-throw line, sinking 29 of 44 attempts to account for nearly half of its points.

Cameron Ball led the Lakers with 19 points. Sam Johnson added 15 while Isaiah Pierce and Griffin Lorimer each had 10 points.

Spring Lake improved to 11-5 overall and 5-3 in conference play.

O-K BLACK

MUSKEGON 63, KENOWA HILLS 24 – The Big Reds carried a 27-11 lead into halftime, then used a 24-5 run in the third quarter to bury the Knights in an O-K Black matchup. Anthony Bethea led Muskegon (15-0, 9-0) with 13 points, while Sam Cornett and Jermayne Golidy finished with 11 and 10 points, respectively.

GRAND RAPIDS UNION 47, REETHS-PUFFER 43 – The Rockets held a 27-26 halftime lead but were outscored 21-16 in the second half. Emcee Williams led Reeths-Puffer (2-12, 1-5) with 14 points while Carter Fulton had 10 rebounds.
