A disastrous fourth quarter cost Kent City a non-conference victory in a much-anticipated contest against Grand Rapids Covenant Christian on Tuesday, 50-42.

The contest was a rematch of last season’s Class C regional championship that the Chargers won by a point, 31-30. In the rematch Tuesday, the Eagles had a 36-30 lead entering the fourth quarter, however, the Chargers outscored the Eagles 20-6 in the final quarter to steal the victory.

Center Krystal Geers led Kent City with 24 points, but she was the only Eagles player to score in the deciding fourth quarter.  Paige Mortensen added seven points, all of which came in the first quarter.  

Kent City falls to 14-4 overall.
