Ryan Geeting poured in 25 points to lead Fremont to a 65-56 victory over Newaygo in CSAA Conference basketball on Friday night.

After leading 5-2 in a low-scoring first quarter, the Packers (12-5, 9-3) took over in the second quarter. Geeting scored 17 first-half points.

A late fourth-quarter run by Newaygo cut the score to single digits just before time expired.

Sam Kaastra snagged 10 rebounds for Fremont.

GRANT 71, TRI-COUNTY 29 – Stifling defense in the second quarter allowed Grant (12-4, 10-2) to establish a sizeable 45-18 lead at the half. Casey Geers led the way with 16 points while Spencer Naffziger finished the game with 14 points, eight rebounds, seven assists and six blocks. Tyler Naffziger also scored 14 points for the Tigers.

MORLEY-STANWOOD 44, KENT CITY 43 – Kent City watched a game-winning half-court shot bounce off the rim as time expired. The Eagles erased a double-digit deficit in the first half to put themselves in position to win. A layup with six seconds remaining tied the game at 43, but a foul with one second left sent the Mohawks to the stripe, where they converted once for the game-winning point. Fraser Wilson led Kent City with 14 points and Jace Dailey added 10.

HOLTON 47, WHITE CLOUD 28 – Kevin Slowik had 16 points and six rebounds while Dalton Giddings had 12 points and 17 boards for the Red Devils, who improved to 9-8 overall and 3-6 in the conference.

LAKEVIEW 50, HESPERIA 42 – Hesperia dropped a CSAA Silver game at home Friday night. Scott Peters had a big game for the Panthers (4-12, 3-6), finishing with 18 points, while Kanin White chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.
