The Holton girls basketball team ended its season on Monday night in the Class C district quarterfinals.

The Red Devils fell short of a comeback win, falling to Mason County Central 40-37.

Holton (14-7) fell behind 12-9 after the first quarter and trailed 20-18 at halftime.

The Spartans expanded their lead to 36-22 after three quarters, going on a 16-4 run during the stanza.

The Red Devils stormed back with a 15-4 fourth quarter run of their own before falling short.

Shelbey Younts paced Holton with 14 points while Courtney Slater added eight points and 12 rebounds.

The Spartans, who will face Shelby on Wednesday in the Class C district semifinals, were led by Madly Bladzik with a game-high 18 points.
