The undefeated Ludington boys basketball team made a big statement on Tuesday night with a 70-38 win over Big Rapids, the sixth-ranked Class B team in the state.

The Orioles, now 13-0 on the season, used a big offensive night from Calvin Hackert, as well as tough defense, to post the impressive victory.

Hackert, a senior forward, dropped in 22 points and dished our four assists.

Ludington forced 22 Big Rapids (12-1) turnovers and cut down on the Cardinals’ transition game.

The Orioles led 15-10 after one quarter, then used second and third quarter runs to build a 50-24 advantage heading into the final stanza.

Josh Layman finished with 16 points and 12 rebounds and Bandstra added 12 points for Ludington. Noah Layman chipped in nine points, six rebounds and four assists.

Demitri Martin led Big Rapids with 21 points.
