The North Muskegon boys basketball team survived a tough contest against Ravenna on Wednesday in the Class C district semifinals at Kent City.

The Norsemen came away with a 63-49 win over the Bulldogs to advance to Friday’s Class C district title game.

The game was tied 13-13 after the first quarter and 22-22 at halftime before North Muskegon outscored the Bulldogs by an 18-8 advantage during the third stanza to take a 40-30 lead heading into the fourth.

The Norsemen closed the game with a 23-19 fourth quarter run to seal the victory.

TJ McKenzie led North Muskegon with 14 points, four steals and four assists while Vernonell Smith added 12 points and six rebounds. Dalton Fuller chipped in with 10 points for the Norsemen.

The Wildcats were paced by Anthony Arbogast with 11 points while Trevor Hazen and Ryan Osmer scored 10 points apiece.

The Norsemen will play Muskegon Heights in the Class C district finals at Kent City. Tipoff is slated for 7 p.m.
