The Ludington and WMCC softball squads split a doubleheader on Tuesday. The Orioles took Game 1, 6-5, while WMCC won Game 2, 13-12.

Ryan Makowicki grabbed the win for Ludington in Game 1. She threw all seven innings and had eight strikeouts. Megan Mulherin was 2-3 at the plate and drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh. Breanna Lange was 3-4 with with two RBIs and Mackenzie Howe had two hits.

The WMCC offense was led by Amelia Heminger (MCC), Maria Sanocki (MCC), and Rebecca Ter Haar (WMC), with two hits each. Moser took the loss on the mound, tossing 6 1/3 innings, giving up 11 hits, six runs and striking out six.

In Game 2, Riley Rittenhouse had two hits and an RBI for Ludington. Mulherin and Howe each had a hit, an RBI and a run scored.

The WMCC offense was led by Haylee Moser (WMC), who was 3-for-4 with five RBIs.  Adding to the offense were Heminger with three RBIs and Ter Haar with two hits and two RBIs.  Moser pitched the final 4 1/3 innings, giving up six hits, seven runs, and striking out four to gain the victory.

WMCC is now 3-3 overall and 1-1 in Lakes 8 Conference play.
