Oakridge’s varsity softball team remained undefeated at 8-0 on Tuesday with a hard-fought sweep of Whitehall in a West Michigan Conference double header.

The Eagles pulled out a 2-1 victory in the opener, thanks to the stellar pitching of Kayla Fessenden, who allowed just three hits and fanned nine Vikings.

Brie Pastor and Sophia Wiard tallied the RBIs for Oakridge, while Madison Carroll had three hits, including a double.

In the nightcap, Whitehall thrived early with five runs through four innings to win 10-5, but Carroll came on in relief and shut down the Vikings the rest of the way.  Oakridge continued to pound away at the plate, with Fessenden leading the charge with a 3-for-3 showing, including a home run. Pastor also had a solo homer, while Wiard had two hits, and Carroll tallied a triple and two RBIs.

Whitehall was led by Katelyn Goodrich, with two hits, including a triple.
